Some thoughts I had earlier tonight on leadership and game-changers:

Lately I’ve thought a lot about how individuals we now recognize as major cultural icons must have felt when they were first starting out their career/movement. I’ve thought about how insecure they must have felt; completely unaware of the impact they would have on society. I’ve also thought about how delusional, crazy, and narcissistic they must have felt undergoing a feat that most people probably disapproved of because it was “risky” or just “insane”. I wonder what pushed them to ignore these people’s judgments and just head straight for their dreams.

Isn’t it wonderful that people like MLK, Gandhi, Cesar Chavez and other great social leaders found their cause and passion to be so overwhelmingly important that they were able to rise above the crowd and lead people towards good? I find that really comforting, that there are people around me right now, whose passion is slowly boiling inside of them. And one day there will be so much of it that they cannot contain it inside of themselves any longer, and it will all spill. And they will feel so passionate that it will override any judgments, or potential embarrassment, or social repercussions. Passion is a beautiful thing.
